About Microsoft Office Mobile app
The companion for phones running Android OS prior to version 4.4 is Microsoft Office Mobile. The new Word, Excel, and PowerPoint apps are now available for Android tablets and phones in the Google Play store. These fresh applications, accessible through http://aka.ms/worda, http://aka.ms/excela, http://aka.ms/ppta, replace the existing Office Mobile.
The Microsoft Office Mobile app enables users with Android OS versions prior to v4.4 to access, view, and edit Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents from almost anywhere. The documents maintain their original appearance, supporting charts, animations, SmartArt graphics, and shapes even when users make quick edits or add comments.*
Users can access documents from various sources:
- Cloud – Phone users can access Office documents stored on OneDrive, OneDrive for Business, or SharePoint.
- Recent Documents – Office Mobile is cloud-connected, making recently viewed documents on the computer readily available on the phone in the recent documents panel.
- Email Attachments – Users can view and edit Office documents attached to email messages.*
Key features of Microsoft Office Mobile include:
- Great-Looking Documents – Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents look impressive on phones, with support for charts, animations, SmartArt Graphics, and shapes.
- Optimized for Phone – Word, Excel, and PowerPoint have been optimized for the small screens of phones.
- Resume Reading – When opening a Word document from OneDrive or OneDrive for Business on the phone, it automatically resumes at the place where the user left off reading, even if the document was last viewed on a PC or tablet.
- Presentation Views – The Slide Navigator view in PowerPoint enables users to browse slides faster, while speaker notes help in practicing presentations.
Users can make quick edits and share*:
- Documents Remain Intact – Formatting and content remain intact when editing Word, Excel, or PowerPoint documents on the phone.
- Create – Users can create new Word and Excel documents on the phone.
- Comments – Users can review and add comments made in Word and Excel documents on the phone.
- Signing in with a free Microsoft account allows users to create, edit, and save documents for home use. A qualifying Office 365 subscription is required for business use. Visit office.com/information for a list of qualifying plans.
